Crowns

Sometimes referred to as dental “caps”, crowns are made from either tooth-coloured porcelain or a non-precious metal, which is used to protect and restore weakened or heavily filled teeth.

The dental crowns are fixed to the remaining tooth structure with dental cement. Crowns can also be used for cosmetic reasons.

A metal sub-structure is sometimes used to add strength for longevity of the crown.

We also offer a wide range of crown materials such as Emax porcelain crowns or Zirconia Crowns for a natural finish if a patient prefers not to have a metal base.

Dental Implants

If your dentures, or your loose and missing teeth make it hard to eat normally, dental implants offer a long-lasting and life-changing solution. The closest dental option to natural teeth, they restore your ability to bite and chew normally and give you natural-looking fixed teeth.

Dental implants are titanium rods that are surgically inserted into your jawbone to replace your natural tooth roots. Natural-looking artificial teeth are then securely fixed on top and remain in place night and day, just like your own teeth. Dental implants can be used to replace single, multiple or full arches of teeth.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are a dental solution where a “bridge” of artificial teeth is used to fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth. The bridge is supported by the existing adjacent teeth, whether natural or dental implants, so the artificial teeth can then remain permanently in place and restore your smile.

There are different types of dental bridges available such as a Maryland bridge, which is held in place by a metal wing or wings and requires little tooth structure to be used from the adjacent teeth. A cantilever bridge, only requires one adjacent tooth to be bonded to or traditional bridges. Your dentist will be able to discuss which bridge would be best for you.

The new teeth can be colour-matched to complement existing teeth and to look natural.

Dentures

Dentures are removable false teeth that are used to replace missing teeth and surrounding gums. Dentures can be used to replace full sets of teeth (complete dentures) or single / multiple teeth (partial dentures).

The dentures themselves can be made from various materials such as acrylic, a flexible plastic called Valplast or chrome cobalt (metal-based with added acrylic). They are created to give the teeth and gums a natural-looking appearance.

Root Canal/Endodontic Treatment

“Root canal“ treatment is used to save a tooth that is badly decayed or that has become infected, and the only other option is to have it extracted. Your dentist will remove the nerve and dental pulp, then clean and seal the tooth. This helps to avoid infection and the formation of abscesses in the surrounding teeth, roots and gums – all of which can be very painful.

Root canal procedures usually require two or more long-length appointments to complete treatment.
