Dr Liliana Ruzzene is a UK General Dental Council registered specialist oral surgeon, located at the David Neal Dental practice in Langport
Her extensive background in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery provided her with the perfect starting point for learning the finer points of oral surgery and dental implantology.
She deals with all aspects of oral surgery, wisdom teeth removals, exposure of impacted teeth, bone augmentation procedures including complex bone grafting, pathology, implantology and surgical aesthetics.
It is Liliana’s priority to stay up to date technically and technologically with constant continuing education to ensure that her patients receive the best possible surgical care available.
I graduated with BDS Summa Cum Laude, at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa in 1985, with distinctions in all final year subjects. I received numerous awards, including the Gold Medal of the Dental Association of South Africa, for the most outstanding graduate.
I went on to specialise in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
I attained a Masters Degree in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery in 1991, also gaining my Fellowship in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery through the College of Medicine of South Africa in the same year.
From an early age, I was drawn to the intersection of science, dexterity, and patient care – a combination that naturally led me to a career in dentistry.
The opportunity to restore health and confidence through precision and compassion was deeply compelling.
As my training progressed, I developed a particular fascination with surgical procedures – their complexity, their immediacy, and the profound impact they could have on a patient’s quality of life.
This passion guided me toward specialisation in oral surgery.
Today, my clinical focus lies in advanced oral surgery and implantology
I restore function and aesthetics for patients who have lost teeth through trauma, decay, or disease.
I treat a wide range of patients – from those seeking to replace a single missing tooth, to individuals in need of full-arch restorations.
Many come to me having been told elsewhere that they’re not suitable for implants. With modern techniques and careful planning, I often find that we can achieve transformative results, even in challenging cases.
I provide both traditional and same-day dental implant solutions, carefully assessing each case to ensure the safest, most effective outcome.
Whether a patient requires a single implant, full-mouth rehabilitation, or complex bone grafting, my goal is always to deliver tailored, evidence-based care that balances form, function, and longevity.
Surgically, I am particularly passionate about procedures that demand meticulous planning and offer tangible, immediate improvements – such as complex extractions, bone regeneration, and full-mouth implant reconstructions.
I find great satisfaction in the precision of these interventions and the way they so directly restore oral health, function, and confidence.
Ultimately, I believe that oral surgery is not just about technical excellence – it’s about restoring confidence, dignity, and wellbeing.
Whether I’m placing a single implant or carrying out complex grafting, removing wisdom teeth or impacted teeth, my focus remains the same: to deliver care that is meticulous, compassionate, and life-changing.
I enjoy the trust patients place in me during often vulnerable moments.
Every individual brings a unique story, and it is a privilege to support them through what can be an anxious journey – particularly for those who are nervous or have had difficult dental experiences in the past.
Over the years, I’ve developed a calm, empathetic approach and use both gentle techniques and, where appropriate, conscious sedation to help patients feel at ease and in control throughout their treatment.
A personal highlight in my career was leading a multi-disciplinary case involving the reconstruction of a severely atrophic jaw, culminating in full-arch implant rehabilitation.
The patient, who had previously been unable to eat or speak comfortably, was brought to tears upon seeing their smile restored.
Moments like these remind me why I do what I do.
