Dental Implant Costs and Payment Plans

Cost can be a key consideration when deciding whether to go ahead with dental implant treatment – especially as it’s not usually available on the NHS.

It’s a significant investment in your well-being so it’s wise to be clear about exactly what you expect back in return.

Value is about more than cost

Did you know the skill and experience of your implant surgeon, and the quality of dental implants they use, can affect the success of your treatment?

All dental implant procedures require surgery, so it’s important to consider all the factors that contribute to achieving the results you’re hoping for, especially for highly skilled techniques such as Teeth in a Day.

Dental implant cost FAQ

What's included in the cost?

Whichever treatment you choose, all prices will be clearly outlined in your personalised treatment plan.

Single implant or multiple teeth implants – from £3,500 per tooth.

The cost of your treatment will be advised by your dentist after you have been examined at your initial consultation and your CT scan has been analysed to confirm your suitability for treatment.

The cost will depend upon the number of teeth to be replaced, any specific treatment complexities and whether you are having conventional or same-day dental implants. Where multiple single teeth are being replaced, we take into account the positioning in your mouth and the number of implants required.

Once you have confirmed you wish to proceed in accordance with your treatment plan, the fee will include all appointments, your implants and crowns / bridge and surgical costs.

All on Four full arch implants – £16,000 per arch (£32,000 for both arches).

The cost for a full arch of teeth replaced on implants includes:

  • All appointments until treatment sign-off
  • Any necessary extractions
  • Dental implants and materials
  • Bespoke temporary teeth fixed on day of surgery
  • Bespoke reinforced final teeth placed after the healing phase.

For most people, bone grafting is not needed, even in cases of extreme bone loss.

If, however, a patient does require specific additional treatment such as bone grafting or zygomatic (cheekbone) implants, additional costs will be discussed upfront.

What isn't included in the cost?

CT scan – £200

If, after attending your initial consultation, you wish to progress to the next step, you will have a CT scan.

CT scans analyse the amount and quality of jawbone available to support dental implants, enabling us to confirm your suitability before we create your personalised treatment plan. CT scans are also used to plan your surgery and guide precise implant placement.

Sedation – from £1,500 per day, dependent upon treatment.

All patients are gently administered with pain relief.

Conscious sedation is administered by our specialist sedationist who remains with you throughout surgery.

Why do implant costs vary?

Treatment costs are often a reflection of the following:

  • The skill and experience of the implant surgeon
  • How currently and frequently they place implants
  • Implant techniques available – traditional versus same day
  • Safety standards and a professional environment
  • Quality of materials used (implants etc)
  • Quality of equipment used
  • Bespoke prosthesis creation versus “off the shelf” limited choice
  • Technology and techniques used for precise planning and safety
  • Treatment success rates
  • Standards of patient care
  • Continuity of care from start to finish
  • Aftercare – accountability if things go wrong
  • Transparency in costs – might there be unexpected extras?

Why do dental implant costs vary so much?

Why are dental implants cheaper abroad?

Dental treatment abroad can be significantly cheaper than in the UK, attracting “dental tourists” who travel overseas to take advantage of lower treatment costs.

Whilst there are certainly competent dental implant providers abroad, careful research is crucial to make sure you find a reputable team who will treat you safely and deliver the smile you are looking for.

Check details such as the qualifications and experience of the surgeon and confirm the practice meets international dentistry standards.  Always ask what follow-up care is available, and what happens if something goes wrong.

The NHS highlights the following warning signs:

  • A hard sell
  • A lack of information
  • Pressure to make a quick decision
  • No discussion of possible complications
  • No mention of aftercare

Are dental implants available on the NHS?

Dental implants are not usually available on the NHS.

The NHS states:

“Implants are usually only available privately and are expensive. They’re sometimes available on the NHS for patients who cannot wear dentures or whose face and teeth have been damaged, such as people who have had mouth cancer or an accident that’s knocked a tooth out.”

Are implants more expensive than dentures?

Dental implants usually have a higher inital cost than dentures, but they can be more cost-effective in the long run due to their durability and longevity.

Dentures, are initially more affordable but require more frequent replacements and maintenance.
